Cheers! My name is Fionna Lee. Even though I am not Fionna from Adventure Time, we both have an adventurous personality and enjoy helping others. I am also well-known for my easy-going and down-to-earth personality! For starters, I am a 20-year-old college student currently studying Diploma in Mass Communication at IACT College. In fact, I am currently in my final semester for this course and will be graduating in December, 2022.
Hi, it’s me!
Like any other high school graduate, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life and had no idea what course to take after graduating from high school. I had a desire to work in the broadcasting and film industries, but I was unsure of my decision. Hence, I ended up choosing Mass Communication which allows me to learn from a variety of fields, including broadcasting. I believe that taking this course will assist me in determining what I truly want to do in the future. As the years pass and I enter my final semester, I am now more certain that I want to work in the broadcasting and film industries.
One of the reasons I am interested in broadcasting is that I have always enjoyed watching movies as a child. Animated cartoons, particularly those produced by Disney, are my all-time favourite genre! Many people may think that I am childish and that animated movies are for children, but this is definitely not the case. I have always been drawn to movies, regardless of language or genre, and I have watched a lot of them since I was a kid. However, as time passes, it becomes more difficult for me to be impressed by movies due to the repetition of similar concepts. This then piques my interest in the entire filmmaking process, from pre-production to post-production.

To prove my interest in the broadcasting industry, I chose to complete my internship at a production company namely Grim Film during my previous semester. I was lucky to be given the opportunity to work in a variety of roles during my internship, including production assistant, runner, video editor, sound operator, and so on. Working in this field is undeniably painful and exhausting, but I thoroughly enjoyed it! Due to my independence and quick-learning ability, I was also assigned to be the only wardrobe stylist on set for a TV series shoot, despite the fact that it was my first time working in a wardrobe department. I even get to play a minor character in the TV series, which is really cool!

Aside from that, I was also given additional opportunities to work on projects and events even after I finished my internship at Grim Film. I was grateful and proud that the company recognized my ability and skills, as they would not normally offer their interns the opportunity to work with them after their internship period ended. Through the TV series shoot, I also met people from other departments and companies, which I believe will be beneficial to me in the future.

On the other hand, video editing is one of my main interests since young and it is my dream to become a video editor. However, after working as an intern at Grim Film for a few months, I discovered that my video editing skills are lacking and that there is a lot of room for improvement. With my current skills, I can only handle offline editing. Nonetheless, I was determined to improve my editing skills by watching online tutorial videos and practising more. I am confident that with my quick learning ability, I will be able to handle video editing more effectively in time to come!
To conclude, I am a curious, reliable quick learner who is eager to pursue a career in the broadcasting industry. In fact, I may pursue a Bachelor of Broadcasting and Film after graduation. Nonetheless, I hope to meet more people in the field and be given more opportunities to work along the way so that I can gain more experience and knowledge.
